Philosophy Rhetoric Essay

For those politicians who get wind themselves faced with a question whose answer may be distressing to their audience, there is no substitute for the power of hot air The light-as-air rhetoric politicians tend to give in repartee to any question regarding national identity is a fine example. Asked what it is to be an American, most politicians will appeal to emotion with reflexes so skilled and precise that a kung-fu master would be hard-pressed to imitate them. Where logic is concerned, the rhetorical replies to this sort of question often begs umteen others. The politician will surely answer using words such as hope, determine, family and faith but are those words even useful as descriptions? Do they speak to the genuine experience of being an American or do they speak to some of the notions in which many find great comfort? How much of any politicians answer to this question is ritual and how much actual response? And, most importantly, are those things really characteristic of Americans or are they things Americans like to think about themselves, mankind notwithstanding? Where a reasonable, logical answer to the question of what it means to be American may be pages long and the subject of spirited debatenot to mention heavily influenced by the time in which the question was poseda rhetorical answer provides an easy dodge that leaves the politician with a syncope glow of patriotism, the great persuader who is so often summoned by way of such simple rhetoric.

Mental Health Case Study

concord to The Free Dictionary, noetic infirmity is defined as, Any of various psychiatric conditions, usually characterized by blemish of an individuals normal cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning, and caused by physiological or psychosocial factors (The Free Dictionary, 2007). Mental affection heap certainly be a physical illness, but is not as easily diagnosed like a disease such as diabetes. In a disease like diabetes, physicians arsehole run tests to expression for certain indicators of the disease in the blood like the levels of blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C.Sometimes physical conditions can cause mental illnesses. Unlike diseases like diabetes, mental health diagnoses often rely more on the forbearing relaying their symptoms to their physician or health care provider. This could not be as accurate because the patient may be unable to distinguish all of their symptoms or they may not think to evidence the health care provider every symptom that they a re paltry. According to John Grohol PsyD, Treating mental illness rarely results in a cure, per se.What it does result in is a person feeling better, getting better, and in conclusion no longer needing give-and-take (in most cases). But even then, rarely will a original say, Yes, youre cured of your depression. (Grohol PsyD, 2009). The deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill began with the introduction of the use of psychotropic drugs for mental health treatment in the 1950s. It was embraced as a way of saving money because the patients would be able to be treated on an outpatient basis and in theory as well as be able to function in the dry land while on medications. This has not been as successful of a plan as originally intended. watch glass Riberio makes this point by stating, The programs thought to re out care given in institutions were not nearly adequate. These programs, attempts to place the mentally ill back in society to be helped by the community members, day pr ograms, and medications were not fully implemented to the full extent needed to replace institutions. This process led to an overwhelming good turn of mentally ill loose in society, becoming criminals due to lack of treatment (Riberio, 2006).It is important to recognise that mental health services are often administered by a patients base care physician. The patient may make tell their primary physician about problems that they are suffering from in order to seek help there first. The primary physician can prescribe anti-depressants for a patient that is suffering from anxiety or depression. They can also run tests to make sure a problem is not organic in nature versus purely mental. If mental health and physical health care are kept separate, a physician could miss a medical diagnoses that could be causation a mental problem. Some of the services that could be needed for the mentally ill are safety places for them to stay that will help protect mentally ill people from themselv es if they are that unstable. There is also a need for therapy to help patients learn about their illnesses and how to cope with it. Managed Healthcare poses more challenges to the treatment of mental illness because they often impose more hoops to jump through in order for the patient to get approved pay offage.Managed care organizations reduce health care bes of mental health treatments by imposing limits on the amount of care a person can receive. They may also cover the treatments at a lower percentage, making the patient liable for a larger portion of the cost of care. In order to determine what kind of facility a mentally ill person should go to, one would have to be evaluated by a mental health professional. If the person is a risk of infection to themselves or others, it would probably be best to have them admitted to a psychiatric hospital. If they are simply depressed, they may be able to be treated with medicine and therapy. ? Homework Should Be Abolished Essay

It is a common emotion to students regarding the distaste of readiness, but legions of teachers enjoy better because they recognize the importance of readiness in the success of students in school and outside of school. I completely disagree with the statement that provision should be abolished. School without homework is non an image I can fathom. There ar many reasons why homework should not be abolished as it is greatly beneficial towards the student. Homework improves the stability of the student in school allowing them to spend their time wisely and not only focus on play. It allows the teacher to acknowledge the students weaknesses and in turn with child(p) them an opportunity to improve and acquire new skills. Also, taking time each night to do homework is a chance for students to catch up on missed class and further reinforces the days lessons so it is permanently etched in the students mind where the information is stored and used when called upon.several(prenomina l) studies have proven that homework, in event, does improve the stability of the student in school. This strengthens the statement that time spent completing homework is time well spent. Rather than giving students another hour of leisure time, doing homework entitles the student to an hour of enriched education. This can greatly benefit the student, as consistently finishing homework bequeath reap great rewards such as a favorable test score or story card. Not only does homework accomplishment benefit the student, it also benefits the teacher as well. Teachers receive the opportunity to see at what stage the student is by assigning homework. Furthermore, the teacher can identify the weaknesses of the student so they can ameliorate their study habits in hopes of pulling their grades up. Many students chose not to say when they are experiencing difficulties and it is often up to the teacher to find out. Homework is not set out only to process students, but it is also definitely aimed to help teachers gain insight on their students progress. Moreover, the essence and goal of homework is profitable towards the students. It allows students who missed the days lesson to catch up with the rest of their classmates. Likewise, homework reinforces the new concepts taught that day and helps the student develop a deeper understanding of what they have learned. On the contrary, if teachers were to assign no homework daily, then the new ideas they have brought forth will fall on deaf ears and the students are the ones who lose out on the wondrous opportunity of learning something new. Are you ready to give up an opportunity where new notions are introduced and planted firmly within your mind?It is incredulous to suggest that homework should be abolished. Although many may hate the mention of homework, no one can deny the fact that homeworks benefits overshadow its cons. To put it succinctly, homework should not be abolished It helps with time management and face skill s, allows teachers the opportunity to find their students weaknesses so that they can help them to improve and lastly, it helps to reinforce things taught in school and help to gain a better understanding of the new ideas and concepts taught, engraving it inside students memories forever.

For an example the elements could be hydrogen, oxygen, and due north. These three elements bond with atoms, and create carbon and hydrogen atoms. Then the three elements then become a consorted chain, the chain produces three domains that the body and all living organisms desire to function. They are considered as large biological molecules. Carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids are the three domains of the atom chain. The small molecules are what link the large biological molecules in concert.Carbohydrates are created by carbon, oxygen, hydrogen linking together which form polysaccharides. The chain is called a polymer, which is a small molecule. Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen unite and form amino acids. The Amino acids then produce proteins. Also when carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen unite comb ined with sugars it becomes nucleotide molecule. The nucleotide molecule then produces DNA and RNA. Carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen united together then form fatty acids. The fatty acids produce glycerol, and this is how lipids are formed. All three domains of that create an atom are living organisms that bond with each other to create organic compounds that produce the chains that throw in the towel the carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids. All three of these basic atoms are needed to grow food, and digest food that make up all living organisms including humans, animals, and natural gases.ReferenceEric J. Simon, Jane B. The omnipotence of oil utility is also magnificent as we all know. But oil is not a renewable resource and olibanum its importance against its tremendous usage becomes much more pronounced. The developing countries in the world are mainly instilled with vast resources of oil and gas and their increase in demand is also increasing in fast scale in the recent years. Multinational oil companies, investors, suppliers, contractors as well as consulting firms are intimately shifting their attention towards these developing nations for carrying on their business operations (Razavi, 1996, p.2). The escalation in global oil fruit also carries along with it an urge of unparalleled risk management. With the rise in peaking of oil production, the liquid force out prices and price volatility has been rampant subjected to dramatic influence on economic, social and political forefronts of the countries. Strategies are devised by the organizations engaged in the oil industry for risk mitigation. The risk management paradigm is indeed of large(p) significance for mammoth investments in the oil industry projects which are time consuming. Apart from that, running business in an ethical manner is a definite necessity. Oil co mpanies working in a unsophisticated be it national or international must comply with the proper sub judice environment so that business operations are done in a suitable way and oil productions are carried on in a sustainable manner. School corporal punishment Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

School embodied penalisation - Research Paper ExampleMany nations however have enacted legislations against its use while others hush up legalise it. In United States for example, about 20 states have it as a legal mildew of instilling discipline in schools (Human Rights Watch 36). This practice has received increased condemnation in the termination 40 years from child rights activists and the general public but some volume still urge for its use. This paper looks into pros and cons of embodied penalization in schools while shedding light on how teachers can slowly remove its reliance as a disciplinary measure. ARGUMENTS FOR CORPORAL PUNISHMENT By use of corporeal punishment savants are made aware that there is an authority figure. This helps in ensuring that students respect the elder people in the society and it also draws a line between who is in authority as farthest as schoolroom management is concerned. In other instances students hail from quite lenient families who end up spoiling them. They therefore require someone to set them back on the right path of great discipline and respect for authority. In some regions dropping of corporal punishment in schools was followed by coarse decline in performance and heightened indiscipline among students. This is the case of Britain where teachers complained a great deal after its abolishment was followed by general decline in performance in legion(predicate) schools (Council of Europe 24). Corporal punishment acts as a motivation towards performance and as such it ought to be used where necessary so as to attain desirable results (27). Teachers are trained professionals who are also adults and they know what level of corporal punishment is appropriate for who and when. They should therefore be left to play their part and if they find this kind of punishment to be appropriate, then they can go ahead with it. This also shows that it is not a form of disgust to students as it is just punishment to an indiscipline student from a responsible teacher. Immediate physical punishment is more preferable than suspension or expulsion since after a few strokes a student goes on with their normal learning activities. The former two forms of punishment interrupt a students learning schedule. Misbehaving students are easily rewarded by suspensions due to the free time they are allowed to stay at home (54). These kinds of children unremarkably stay home alone while their parents are at work and can easily satisfy in further naughtiness. ARGUMENTS AGAINST CORPORAL PUNISHMENT Physical punishment opens doors for abuse and leads to battery tendencies in children. in that location is a thin line between punishment and abuse and teachers usually cross this line as they wish where the law allows for corporal punishment. Corporal punishment degrades students a great deal as others scoff them for being punished. This brings shame to them and if this happens constantly, these students result to having low self esteem. Such a student is lowly make to learn or even conduct themselves in a disciplined manner. This type of punishment has many negative impacts psychologically (Human Rights Watch 92). Anxiety is one of them because students tend to become scared of their teachers in the classroom especially when punishment is imminent from something they had done earlier e.g. failure to have finished yesterdays homework. Other psychological effects are rigidity, inhibition and depression all of which have far orbit consequences on a student

Propaganda Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2

Propaganda - Essay ExampleThis probably would have been successful, because such tactics tied nowadays into self-conceptions of masculinity (Jarvis 2004).The second posters, from WWII, had entirely dissimilar goals. They were attempting to influence the population to live in more grave conditions, by sharing and reducing use of resources. They take ii different approaches the Hitler one attempts to invoke guilt, by treating non-austere people as traitors, whereas the second tries to play on positive emotions, telling its viewer that they are fashioning soldiers happy by providing them enough through forgoing extra food. These may have been less successful, because they did non tap in as immediately to essential parts of peoples identity (Gullace 2002).These two paintings are both reactions to the First serviceman War. One of the things that becomes very apparent is the disillusionment artists experienced with the propaganda these directly counter propaganda by maintaining the ir similar style ( oddly Mustard Gas Victims), while portraying fundamentally different things the true experience of war. They fundamentally seemed to need to communicate the true horror of what they had experienced during the First World War, possibly to break the romanticized ideas that had been formed in peoples minds based on war propaganda of the prison term (Tolson 2010).These are two modern pieces of propaganda. The first is an advertisement for M&Ms, which directly place on the propaganda of the past, especially Soviet propaganda. The second, with a distinctly modern, clean type face, is an advertisement for the Kony 2012 group, who accepted large amounts of funds to purportedly help find and arrest Kony, and help his victims. One of the interesting things about both of these pieces of propaganda is that they play on their viewers desire for connection.
